March, National Women’s History Month
National Women’s History Month
National Women’s History month as defined by www.census,gov states that National Women’s History Month traces its roots to March 8, 1857, when women from various New York City factories staged a protest over poor working conditions. The first Women’s Day celebration in the United States was in 1909, also in New York City.
This month we will hear stories about all the good things that women have overcome but in reality, we (women) have made major movements toward equality, standing on the front lines of protest, and the list goes on. We (women) continue to fight for equality although still lagging behind men in employment opportunities, fair wages and just to have a voice. This month will honor women’s contributions to American History although we must not forget we have a long way to go. Take sometime and thank the women who have made contributions to your life and let them know they are appreciated. Every achievement does not have to be major, kind words and acts of kindness should be celebrated also. Please if you can share some info in the comment section about women who have impacted you life.
