I’m Corlis Renee thanks for joining me on this journey

“whatsbetterthanlifeafter50”!

Whatsbetterthanlifeafter50 is a Blog that will be dedicated to the In’s

and Outs of life past and present. Some laughs, some tears but a ton

of love from someone living life after 50 without borders. This Blog is

open to all ages with a purpose to inspire, educate and embrace ideas

and thoughts in addition to leaving people with and understanding

that life happens and we keep moving!!!!!!

How my journey began

Greetings, I am Corlis Renee and I'm super excited that you've chosen

to click on my blog “whatsbetterthanlifeafter50”! I began developing

whatsbetterthanlifeafter50 out of need fall 2021. Being that I'm an 8

year Assault and attempted robbery survivor who just happens to be

hostage in her home unless she's out with others( this is going to be

surprising to many). So what's a girl to do? Reinvent herself!

Those group Projects at Norfolk State University, Graduate school program

paid off. I'm a Graduate of Norfolk State University with a Masters Degree in

Urban Education, Mother, Teacher, Mental Health /Counselor, Intensive Case

Manager, Clinical Coordinator, Child Protective Specialist, Training

Director, Telemarketer, Marketing, Fast Food Industry Worker, Writer,

Entrepreneur, Stylist, Influencer and yes BLOGGER! I love writing,

reading, talking , sharing, exploring, learning, shopping on a budget,

traveling, and most of all advocating, so I had to decide if I was going

to stay captive in my home or if I was willing to put the work in to get

my life back. My spine surgeon (The Institute for Comprehensive

spine-care) got me walking and holding my neck straight (still aches

and pains) but I'm able to move around. So I needed to get my fear of

people taken care of (Behavioral Health and Dr. Edamadi). As a result

my Blog was born, not really understanding what a Blog was I used the

word loosely. What I did know was that I could share the lifestyle of a 50

plus woman living through trauma trying to navigate life without getting

consumed with my focusing on my ongoing daily aches and pains and

being a mom to four adult children (minding business that's not mine) and

being a grandmother to my precious Princess Ava-Renee. So I put my

thinking hat on and decided that it was time to put my life lessons to paper,

learn some new things and share some of my personal growth in the hope

to inspire others.
