Letter to my Daughter

Tatiauna,

I love you from the bottom of my heart.  Love is a word that comes with many definitions based on who’s defining it and who’s saying it.  Its been a struggle for me being that affectionate, huggy, lovie, mom ………..I’m still working on it because you are worth it! However, it appears I’m doing better as a Grandmother when it comes to affection……..Not my love language . I love being the receive of affectionr and learning and practicing being the giver has been challenging. It makes me proud in so many ways to watch you as a loving, caring affectionate mom, putting into the practice of being the best mom ever, taking some of the lessons from your childhood experiences and making them a part of your parenting style may, be different although the same.   The day you were born I never imagined your mouth would challenge me to think the death penalty would not be so bad, through it all you have challenged me to be a better person, to listen and not always respond, to count to ten, or on second thought just count.  Baby girl that took on the role of mother to us all although we continue to remind you to this day of your role in our lives(daughter, sister). We don’t always see eye to eye, we don’t always agree, and we might not even like each other at times…………One thing for sure, one thing that never changes is my love for you and your love for me. My personal banker( I owe you)…LoL.  Don't ever settle for the second best in anything you do in life.  Life is for living and I’m thankful that God blessed me with you.

Love your mother -aka- I’m going to always roll the dice to make improvements in my life, relationships, career choices, and learning how to be a supportive parent to my Adult Children.

I challenge all Mothers and Fathers to write a letter to their Daughter or Son, let me know about the emotions felt while writing, and let us know how it went in the comment section below.
